December 2011 Project of the Month! |

Christian Building Material’s longtime customer, Galla-Rini Roofing, was awarded the December 2011 Project of the Month for their residential flat roof project on this multi-million dollar home in the beautiful beach city of Dana Point, California.
This home had a BUR with imported concrete tiles that had been hot mopped down. The constant expanding and contracting of the tiles and the bitumen underneath the tiles caused them to crack and split, creating ways for water to get through this once watertight surface. Each contractor prior to Galla-Rini Roofing had given this Dana Point homeowner a proposal for removing and replacing this beautifully customized roof system. With all the time and money put into designing this unique and beautiful home including their tiled flat roof, replacement was not an option that the homeowner was willing to consider. With over 40 years of experience in the construction industry, and staying on top of all the latest innovations in the roofing industry, Galla-Rini Sales rep, David McNutt, knew that there was an alternative. As a SureCoat Systems’ Certified Contractor, David came in to SureCoat Systems to speak to the product specialist and was confident that together they were going to be able to offer a solution that no contractor had for this homeowner. David brought in a tile to SureCoat Systems for analysis. A simple sample application proved that SS-1007 and the SureCoat roof coating system would achieve a waterproof system for this unique type of roof. SureCoat Systems custom tailored a roof specification just for Galla-Rini roofing on this job. David then went back to the homeowner and left the sample with him for a few days. He shared the information with the homeowner on the custom tailored roof system that was proposed for the home. Being able to test and examine the sample roof tile for himself and being offered a warranty that even a new roof system could not give him, the homeowner signed a contract. After cleaning the roof with SureKlean, Galla-Rini’s crew applied SS-1007 to densify and waterproof the tiles from the inside out. The SS-1007 penetrates its surface to purge all impurities, including water. It then solidifies into a liquid glass to create a moisture vapor barrier beneath the surface. A week into the project, during a routine follow up call, David gained even more confidence in SureCoat Systems. He made this statement, “I just talked to my customer and there are no leaks and they are very happy!” At the time of this call, the Orange County area was experiencing very heavy showers and only the SS-1007 had been applied to his residential roof project. That is the amazing power of SureCoat Systems waterproofing products. They really are leak free from surface to substrate. When the roof was dry again, the project continued and a coating-fabric-coating system was applied to the tiles. The top coat was applied in Autumn Brick color to give the tiles their same, original rustic color. Since this application, there have been several days of downpours and the homeowner is still confident and very happy with his Leak Free Roof! |
