Sometime the projects we are most proud of are not the new roofing installations, but rather the roofs that have stood the test of time. Everyone can talk about the ugly project that now looks all white and shiny, but will it last? That’s why we chose a very rewarding roof project for October’s FEATURED PRODUCT OF THE MONTH
Several roof contractors walked away from coating this roof; no coating manufacturer would grant the roof a warranty. This roof needed to be completely torn off and replaced. Jess Martinson of Jemstar Construction wanted to walk away from this roof also, but he didn’t.
The Anaheim Methodist Church could not afford a tear off, let alone a new roof. Along with church use, the YMCA was also using this building as a day care at the time. It not only needed to be leak free but also needed energy saving. The building had such poor R-value it was difficult to keep the occupants comfortable. With an aging congregation, and a small budget they needed a solution. Jemstar Construction took on the challenge. Rather the challenge was for the SureCoat ™ product.
The original roof consisted of a modified BUR with a silver coating. The roof was in bad condition as you can see by the photos. The project was approximately 7,000 square foot. After making repairs for wood damage and removing all the debris the roof was cleaned thoroughly and the SureCoat™ product was applied.
SureCoat™ Systems approved a 10-year warranty for this roof, even in ponding areas.
Approximately 5 years later; the roof is still white, no blisters, no peeling, and no service issues. While ponding is still evident throughout the roof field, SureCoat ™ has had No Leaks!
If this story didn’t already have a happy ending the roof warranty is renewable after 10 years.
