The Three “R’s” in Construction
We were brought up thinking that the Three “R’s were Reading, Righting (writing) and ‘Rithmetic. Then came concern for the environment with Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. Politicians came with Responsibility, Respect and Religion. We’ve thought of three “R’s” of our own to live by, Recondition, Restoration and Repair.
They all sound the same but they all have a little different duty. For example let’s apply these terms in reference to a roof.
Recondition: Bring into an improved condition / put into a better state.
Say you have a roof that is aging. By reconditioning it we are doing something that brings it back to new again…
Restoration: The act of putting something in working order again.
If I have a roof that is failing, by restoring it I am bringing it back to its original state.
Repair: The act of fixing or mending something.
A hole, tear, crack or pond we need to repair these problems before you have a leak.
In Re-roofing, any of these scenarios are possible including these few that don’t begin with and “R”.
Extend: Lengthen in Time, cause to be or last longer.
Actually extending the amount of time your roof is warrantied or expected to last.
Conversion: The act of changing from one use, function or purpose to another.
Such as applying a coating over an existing roof to make it “cool roof” compliant.
Thinking like this really makes your roof maintenance program come into focus. What do want to accomplish?
We are very familiar with all these terms as we use them to describe what you can do with SureCoat. We are very proud that you do not need different products to perform these functions. All of your goals can be met with this one roof system.
What’s the word for ‘Better than New?” It’s SureCoat!
