Do you know how to read and evaluate the engineering data sheets for the materials that you are using?
Don’t be fooled by a saleman….Learn how to read engineering data sheets. Every product has an engineering data sheet, but that doesn’t mean that every contractor reads it. I have been hearing it more and more lately. Contractor installs a system as specified by their rep and it doesn’t work! 9 times out of 10 this is because the product is not engineered to do so. Emulsion acrylic systems especially. They will lose their reflective energy-efficient top coat if under water for any prolonged length of time.
It is a wet stormy season for many nationwide and it is hard enough to get work. Then, to install a system that can’t hold up through its first season….so sad.
If you are a contractor, roofer or even a property owner doing your own product research, we can teach you how to read the engineering data sheets. Find out the truth about the products you are using when you can read and understand the engineering data yourself!
Helpful Hint: You are looking for ASTM testing for wind-driven rain, perm rating, fire and hail damage resistance. You want the engineering data to reflect a passing test.
